I was watching from over the river as the Hawker was performing a loop but sadly couldn’t pull back up and reports say it crashed onto the A27, the main arterial route across the southern half of West Sussex. I can not confirm if there are any casualties. More as I find out.
Update 14.50BST.
!!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! state aircraft hit 4 vehicles on A27 and came to a rest in some bushes.
Update 15.10BST
Sussex Police now state several casualties, BBC confirm Pilot is alive and in hospital.

Shoreham Airshow is an annual event to support the Royal Air Force Association, a charity that supports RAF Veterans and supports many others with attractions on the airport itself. In 2011 a Hawker Hurricane lost power and crashed, killing the pilot though it is thought that instead of bailing out he stayed in the plane to try to manoeuvre away from crowds watching on hills. He succeeded.

Truly freakish and unfortunate incident. I feel for those who’ve been killed, and I hope for the recovery of those who’ve been injured. I’m not sure what else there is to say until more information comes in.

It’s horrible man, we are a small town of just 20,000 people and the mood is very sombre throughout the town, worse still is the people who paid to get in are trapped in there as the crash site is at the exit. They will let folks out the bottom end of the airport soon hopefully, but a low bridge prevents some vehicles getting through there.

It looked like everything was gonna be ok, the Pilot was extracted from the wreckage alive and taken to hospital, bbc said there were 10 being treated at the scene and 2 taken to hospital with one critical. It looked like miraculously no one would die.
My heart sank when I saw the update of 7 dead, one with life threatening injuries. As far as I know the pilot is still alive.

It is astonishing that he survived the initial impact, if you’ve seen the videos (they are disturbing) I wouldn’t have thought it possible to survive that, considering it had only just taken off and was full of avgas. It’s gonna feel weird driving along there to go to work.
